Handbrake reports no valid source found and the Emicsoft converter reports that it failed to load the file. The problem I have is that whilst I can play all the MKV files perfectly with both VLC Player and Plex, both Handbrake and the Emicsoft converter can't recognise around 50% of the files created by MakeMKV. Both work well, but the Emicsoft converter is a good deal faster than Handbrake and, to my mind at least, produces better results. I have two tools that can do this - Handbrake and a very impressive converter from a company called Emicsoft. Whilst I would like to keep a selection of the latest movies as MKVs and thereby enjoy the very highest quality, I'd like to convert most to MP4s, import them into iTunes and watch them on my Apple TV. Generally I find the quality of the resulting MKV files to be excellent.

I've managed to successfully convert around 90% of the discs I've tried so far. I have a trial version of MakeMKV and have been using it to great effect with a range of commercial Blu-rays.
